Around 2025-07-18, I decided to speedrun MagiQuest, at the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine. I thought I might upload a video somewhere, but the site I was using for video hosting before, video.hardlimit.com appears to be gone. I think I'll wait until I get a faster video anyway, so that it will be shorter and thus easier to edit and also smaller when uploaded. Below are several of my notes, collected in a somewhat disorganized manner.

During one run someone asked me what part of the game I was on and I said I'd tell them later, but then I never saw them again, so I decided to instead upload the information I collected to the internet. At the time they asked, I think I was just before the 3rd boss, planning to go to the warp on the 2nd floor to get the last rune and then go to the boss, in my 7th playthrough. (I don't think it really matters exactly what my progress was, since I was moving relatively quickly.) I was wearing a GoPro HD Hero2 on my head to record the game, which is why they were asking me questions. They also asked if I would upload to YouTube, and I think I said "maybe, but I would probably remove the faces". That particular run was already behind my personal best so I don't think I'll upload it.

My final time was 1 hour and 1 minute. This was my 5th time every playing the game. I started on 2025-07-22 at 8:02 just as the stations activated and finished at 9:03. I tried not to run during the speedrun, but I did speed walk at times. I was holding and referencing a hand-written notebook with a ~91 step guide, with the name and general location of each item (which floor, and which cardinal direction (elevators are west in Grapevine)). I was wearing a blue shirt with aquatic animals on it. The hotel was not very crowded at all around 8, but it got very crowded by 8:30, so I think I may go back sometime during the school year when it's less crowded.

An important strategy for the speedrun was to leave before cutscenes were over. Even for unskippable cutscenes, one can do this. There are several places where you do have to skip or wait though, like when you have to re-cast at the station during the first cutscene, and when you have to do tasks after defeating bosses.

If you would like to try speedrunning yourself, I recommend avoiding running. In the stairs there are signs that clearly mark that running is not allowed in the stairway, but even outside of that, it seems like it would be easy to run into someone by mistake, which could cause serious injuries if you are going too fast. If anyone ever wants to make a leaderboard with speedrun videos, they should probably have moderators verifying that there's no running involved in accepted runs.

In addition to going when it's less crowded, another way to go faster might be to have 4 players on one game, which means you can collect items separately, but everyone has to cast at the tree or station to start it.

Also, I found a way to get 133,200 gold in 10 minutes: just point at the green chest on floor 1 repeatedly, you'll get 200 each time from the chest and 100 from a reflection back to the hourglass, and the cooldown is way shorter than it seems.

Thanks to the Great Wolf Lodge Wiki, which has a list of quests and adventures, with their requirements. It was helpful when planning.

Also, to the girl in a white dress who waved at the camera on 2025-07-19, hello!

To the two boys who asked me some questions on 2025-07-22, hopefully this page answers any questions you have.

Both of the above people were in videos that were not the fastest time, so they probably will not end up uploaded anywhere.

To the employees at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, thanks for running the game and for the information provided (info about money, about multiplayer, about leaderboards, etc.) and for resetting the bosses when they got stuck (It's always Ganko that gets frozen, haha).

I did not check the videos while writing this, so some thing I said might be inaccurate, and I may have missed some things.
